Today we start with the news of the East Coast wildfires.

The Uljin-Samcheok forest fire has continued for the fourth day, and the Gangneung-Donghae forest fire has continued for the third day.

Today, the wind has calmed down a bit, so I was hoping that the speed would increase even following putting out the fire, but due to thick smoke and fog, even the helicopter might not take off on time, so it was difficult to evolve.

First of all, reporter Kim Yoon-mi will tell you regarding today’s wildfire situation.

This morning, Gangwon-do Baekdu-daegan is engulfed in thick smoke.

The sky seen from the Jinhwa Helicopter is like passing through clouds, and it is difficult to see even an inch ahead.

On the fourth day of the wildfire, the main fire of the Uljin-Samcheok wildfire was never caught.

The moist ground beneath the fallen leaves spewed thick smoke from the intense fire and heat, and the sky became hazy as the mist overlapped.

Thick smoke spread to a nearby heliport, and the helicopters were not able to rise in time even following refueling.

“The haze was spread from the top of the mountain to the bottom, so it was impossible to collect it with the caustics at the bottom.”

The evolution rate of Uljin-Samcheok was only 50%, and the length of the whaseon alone was over 60km.

The extinguishing rate of the Gangneung-East Sea forest fire, which is to be completely extinguished today, is also around 90%.

The Korea Forest Service sees tonight as a golden hour.

Because tomorrow’s winds will change to a southeasterly wind that might spread the flames inland.

The area affected by the wildfire was also counted at 2,700 hectares, an increase of regarding 6,000 hectares from yesterday.

Beyond the 2000 East Coast wildfire that burned 23,000 hectares and killed two people, it seems that all-out war tonight will determine whether this wildfire will become the worst wildfire ever.
