Green state parliament club without the consent of the state governor and black-blue in Lower Austria
St. Polten (OTS) – The Green Club did not elect Johanna Mikl-Leitner as state governor today. Club chairwoman and state spokeswoman Helga Krismer comments: “It is historically unprecedented that a state governor is actually only elected with votes from her own parliamentary group. It is hard to imagine how low the ÖVP has sunk to stay in power. Through the working agreement between the ÖVP and FPÖ, Lower Austria has become the ideological pawn of right-wing extremists and right-wing conservatives.
We now have a coalition without a vision, shaped by right-wing ideologies, climate deniers and backward-looking women’s politics.”
For the Greens of Lower Austria, this black-blue coalition is a “coalition of the backward-looking and the eternally backward-looking” that is unable to tackle current challenges such as the climate crisis. Therefore, we see the future of the country and the welfare of the people on the sidelines. “The string puller of this coalition, Stephan Pernkopf, and his farmers’ association are the gravediggers of climate policy at the price of a deputy state governor for farmers. With black and blue, the future in Lower Austria will be gambled away and botched.” Krismer concludes.
