A student attending Hélène-Boucher college in Chartres contracted tuberculosis. “The diagnosis was carried out this summer. The child was isolated and treated. Tuberculosis is one of the contagious diseases that must be declared,” explains Mechtilde Dippe, a doctor within the Directorate of Departmental Services of National Education, in Eure-et-Loir.

The report was relayed to the Ministry of Health, which asked the Center-Val de Loire Regional Health Agency to identify people at risk who were around this student.

Mechtilde Dippe, doctor at the National Education Department, explains:

Tuberculosis is a bacteria. This infectious disease is transmitted by air, like Covid-19, but it is less contagious than the coronavirus. This disease is cured with antibiotics. There may be very few symptoms, hence the importance of screening.

At the request of the ARS, the students enrolled last year in the class of the child concerned are being screened this week, as are his former teachers.
