Heir to the throne
Prince Charles: Painting transports me to another dimension
Painting watercolors refreshes “parts of the soul that other activities cannot reach,” says the British heir to the throne. There are currently around 80 paintings by Prince Charles on display in London.
The British heir to the throne, Prince Charles, feels, in his own words, that painting watercolors has transported him to “another dimension”. The 73-year-old wrote a message from the PA news agency in an article regarding an exhibition in London.
There are currently almost 80 paintings by the prince on display in the rooms of The Prince’s Foundation – including landscape paintings with scenes from Scotland, France and Tanzania.
Charles also admitted that in hindsight he was “appalled” by the quality of his early attempts at walking. He is also modest regarding his current works: “I don’t give myself up to the illusion that my sketches represent great art or an emerging talent,” says Charles. He found painting because he didn’t really enjoy photography. Painting watercolors, on the other hand, “refreshes parts of the soul that other activities cannot”, says Charles.
