The province of Córdoba is the “Cradle of Champions” for athletes from the most diverse disciplines, including motorsports. It is enough to say “Pirín” Gradassi to evoke one of the most prestigious pilots who had Córdoba, as the necessary reason to cover the windshield.
Today, Héctor Luis Gradassi would be turning 90 years old, following being born on March 6, 1933 and beginning his tour of heaven on February 4, 2003, 20 years ago.
As a review, Gradassi was one of the karting promoters and back in 1962 he achieved a remembered victory, winning the La Falda-Córdoba test that he defined in the final meters next to La Cañada, over D’Arminio, who was his great rival that day. A crash that Sunday morning made the road change in the Bajada de Julio A.Roca and Gradassi was the first to notice it and that is why he was able to enter the final phase of the test first and win.
It would be the prologue of a series of triumphs. 64 motorcycle victories, 49 successes in Road Tourism, which meant four Argentine championships, all of them with Ford Falcon and José Miguel Herceg preparation. Together with Juan María Traverso and Nasif Estéfano, they formed an almost “Invincible” trilogy within the category. The four scepters obtained from him make him the best Cordovan exponent in the history of the TC, which has the maximum dominator in Juan Gálvez, with nine Argentine championships.
