Journalism fires Hector Fabio Zamoraphotojournalist of the country and who was part of the work team of the newspaper El Tiempo since 1998. According to information from that same medium, Zamora died this Monday, April 11, in the morning hours in Manizales, due to natural causes.
Héctor Fabio was recognized for portraying important moments in the country’s history, such as the coverage of the earthquake in the Coffee Region, work that gave him international recognition. He was the winner of the II Photography Contest “For being a girl”, the Simón Bolívar National Award for the images of the Jamundí massacre (Valle del Cauca), and the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón Award from the Cali Mayor’s Office.

His career began in the newspaper Diario de Colombia in Armenia, his hometown. Then he became part of the newspaper La Tarde in Pereira and it was in 1998 when he began his journey at El Tiempo, where he worked as a photojournalist in the departments of Valle del Cauca, Nariño and Putumayo.

His work alternated as a teacher at the Universidad del Rosario and other institutions in the country. Zamora was known for his passion for work, so much so that he enjoyed doing political, judicial, sports or cultural coverage.
