The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has chosen the Palestinian assistant referee, Heba Saadia, to participate in leading the Women’s World Cup matches in Australia and New Zealand, scheduled from July 20 to August 20, 2023.

This is the first time that a Palestinian referee participates in the World Cup matches.

Saadia previously participated in managing the Asian Women’s Cup matches that were held in India last February.

Saadia was chosen among the referees for the Group N matches in the 2022 AFC Cup, which held the gathering system during the period from 24 to 30 last June in Vietnam, as the group includes Vietel of Vietnam, Hougang United of Singapore, Phnom Penh of Cambodia, and Young Elephants. from Laos.

The International and Asian Football Confederations also chose the referee, Saadia, who opened her participation in the 2022 “Morris Revillo” tournament for men under 21, hosted by France from May 29 to June 13 of this year, with the participation of teams from 12 countries around the world. .

The 2023 Women’s World Cup is the first in the history of the tournament to be co-organised by two countries, the first to be held in the southern hemisphere and the first to include 32 teams, noting that the 2019 edition included 24 teams.
