Heavy rains recorded in Caracas on August 12

This Monday, the center of Caracas recorded heavy rains accompanied by thunder, lightning and hurricane-force winds, due to the passage of tropical wave number 5, a tropical wave that is currently located east of the Lesser Antilles.

According to meteorologist Luis Vargas, this system is modulating the wind pattern towards Venezuela, which could be intensifying the weather conditions in the region.

Tropical Storm 5 has a 90% chance of becoming a Depression or Tropical Storm, with a forecast track towards the Lesser and Greater Antilles. As this system approaches, it is expected to continue influencing Venezuela’s climate, especially in the eastern and central regions of the country, where more rain could develop in the next 48 hours.

The phenomenon, which began in the afternoon, left fallen trees in its wake in several areas of the city, causing traffic chaos.

Through social media, several users reported rain with electrical discharges in various areas of Greater Caracas.

In addition, heavy rainfall caused the Anauco stream in Caracas to overflow, the damage and casualties are incalculable at this time.
