Muscat: Intense downpours battered various regions of Oman due to low atmospheric pressure. A powerful gust swept through the area. The precipitation began in the morning and persisted into the evening, causing congestion in many areas and disrupting traffic flow.
The Met Office had issued a warning that the downpours would continue until the following week. The bulk of the rainfall occurred in the northern governorates, resulting in flooding in Wadi and on roads, which impacted vehicular traffic. A chill also intensified in various parts of the country. The Royal Oman Police and the Civil Aviation Department advised against crossing rivers during the rainy season and urged people to exercise caution.
Fortunately, no significant damage was reported as a result of the downpours. Temperatures plummeted in various parts of the country. The ROP cautioned against excessive speeding, citing concerns about potential accidents.
Fourteen people trapped in the wadi were rescued

Ibra received the most rainfall
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ibra district received the highest amount of rainfall over the past two days, with a total of 46 mm. Liva came in second with 30 mm, followed by Khabura with 14 mm, and 10 mm in other areas. Bahla, Al Awabi, and Zuhar received less than 10 mm of rainfall. The ministry released these figures, covering the period from December 30 to 31 at 8 am.
