Heavy rains that fell on Medellín and its surroundings during the afternoon of this Sunday, August 11, caused havoc in various parts of the Aburrá Valley.

In Medellín, the Manrique neighborhood witnessed a worrying incident when the torrent of water that flooded the streets He dragged two parked motorcycles while a citizen tried to recover one of them, exposing himself to the danger of the flood.

For its part, in Envigado, A gale accompanied by a downpour caused multiple material damages, although there were no injuries. The neighborhoods of San Marcos, Bucharest, Obrero and downtown Envigado were the most affected, with reports of fallen trees on vehicles and roofs, roadblocks, and some damaged structures of homes and businesses. Landslides were also reported in areas of Itagüí.

Local authorities in both Medellin and Envigado have been working to assess the damage. In Envigado, an operation has been deployed to survey the damage and proceed with the removal of fallen trees and the repair of damaged roofs. Meanwhile, the Early Warning System of Medellín and the Aburrá Valley (Siata) has warned that there is a high probability that the rains will continue during the night in all municipalities of the Aburrá Valley, which could aggravate the current problems.
