Norway, like neighboring Sweden, continues to struggle with the storm formation “Hans”. Several Norwegian roads had to be closed due to flooding and landslides. A road in Molde Municipality was also blocked by a huge rock that slid off a slope in front of a tunnel. A total of more than 100 people had to be evacuated in several communities.

The country’s meteorological institute assumed that the extreme weather would also bring large amounts of rain on Wednesday. A larger area north of Oslo is likely to be particularly affected.

In the past few days, the storm had first hit Sweden and shortly afterwards Norway. Near Hudiksvall, around 300 kilometers north of the Swedish capital Stockholm, two carriages of a passenger train derailed on Monday after the embankment gave way at the site due to heavy rain. The storm is expected to continue over Scandinavia for a few more days.

On Tuesday, the situation was particularly tense in the Swedish town of Åre after a stream burst its banks there during the night. Recordings from Swedish radio showed flooded streets and, among other things, how the street and the ground under a snack bar had been destroyed and ripped away by the water masses. The police spoke of a lot of damage. In the city of Gothenburg, the area of the fishing port was also under water on Tuesday after the river Göta älv also burst its banks there.
