Heavy rain likely in Karachi today and tomorrow, risk of urban flooding – Pakistan

There has been heavy rain in various cities of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. There is a possibility of rain in Karachi today and tomorrow.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz says that monsoon winds can affect Karachi today, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the city today and tomorrow, there is a risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas due to rains.

According to the Meteorological Department, the spell of monsoon in the country is likely to continue till August 25, during which there may be rain with thunder in various districts of Sindh and Punjab.

Apart from this, in Gulberg, Davies Road, Garhi Shahu, Chongi Amarsadhu, Fatehgarh, Harbanspora and Mall Road in Lahore, water accumulated on the roads due to heavy rain late at night.

Apart from this, other institutions including Vasa were alerted. Farooqabad, Wahari, Jalalpur Phatian and Kamonki were flooded due to rain.

Balochistan’s rivers flooded, low-lying areas were submerged, crops and communication roads were destroyed. It is raining in Islamabad too, the meteorological department has predicted more rains in the next 24 hours.

Apart from this, the heavy rains in Borewala city and its suburbs burnt the ground, low-lying areas were flooded and water entered houses and shops while important roads including College Road, Arif Bazar were submerged in water.

Power supply was also suspended due to tripping of various feeders.
