Heavy rain is expected in several regions of the Kingdom, including Souss-Massa.
In this context, weather forecasts issued by the European Meteorological Centre (ECMWF) and the American Global Model (GFS) showed variable scenarios regarding the expected weather conditions in Morocco during the first week of September 2024.
These models show the possibility of heavy rain, especially in the central regions of Morocco, the eastern and southeastern slopes, the Al Haouz region and within the Souss region.
The intensity of these rains is expected to peak between September 5 and 7. These weather conditions are caused by the rise of a humid tropical front and its collision with a cold air mass in the upper layers of the atmosphere, which leads to the condensation of water vapor and heavy rainfall.
In this regard, Al-Hussein Youabad, Communication Officer at the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Equipment and Water, stated that a state of atmospheric instability will continue during the coming week in the southeastern regions, the south of the eastern region, and the Atlas regions.
The same spokesman added that unstable clouds will form and will be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail in large areas of the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, the southeast, and the south of the eastern region.
Youabad pointed out that Monday will witness a slight rise in temperatures, with relatively hot weather in the Tadla plains, the far southeast, and the east of the southern regions.
The High and Middle Atlas regions, their eastern slopes, and the south of the eastern region will witness rain showers or thunderstorms, in addition to moderate to strong winds that will affect the south of the eastern region, the High and Middle Atlas, the southeast, and the central and southern coasts.
On Tuesday, unstable weather is expected to continue in mountainous areas, with thunderstorms falling on the Atlas, its eastern slopes, and the eastern region, with the possibility of extending to the northeastern desert regions.
As for temperatures, the General Directorate of Meteorology expects relatively hot weather in the interior plains, the far southeast, and within the southern regions, with a slight rise in maximum temperatures in the center and within the desert regions, while they will remain stable in the rest of the regions.
