Heavy Israeli airstrike on houses in Damascus

According to the Syrian state news agency Sana, there were dead and injured in a rocket attack by the Israeli army on residential buildings in the Syrian city of Damascus on Sunday night. Sana referred to a security source that initially gave no information on the number of dead and injured.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 15 dead, including civilians. Accordingly, the Israeli attack occurred near an Iranian cultural center. A residential building was destroyed. Correspondents for the AFP news agency in Damascus heard loud explosions followed by ambulance sirens.

According to the dpa news agency, Syrian television showed images of destroyed buildings and reported that the headquarters of Iranian militias had been hit in the capital.
