As we can see, heating tariffs, which soared with the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, reached their peak in the summer of 2022, slowed down and began to fall.
If last year at the end of the heating season the average tariff for heat energy was 110 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), then this year it is 86 euros per MWh.
Tariffs are reduced with delay
The Chairman of the Regulator, Alda Ozola, points to the following trend: the average tariff for thermal energy in Latvia has been decreasing every month since the end of 2022 and, judging by the tariff projects that are currently being assessed, will decrease a little more.
— From November 2022, when the average tariff for thermal energy reached its highest level – 131 euros per MWh, in May of this year it will drop to 86 euros per MWh.
At the same time, according to Ozola, the exchange reduction in fuel prices reaches the Latvian consumer with a delay of several months.
