Heathrow Airport: To stop selling flights

The chief executive of Britain’s Heathrow Airport, John Holland Kaye, has asked airlines to “stop selling flights for the rest of the summer peak”, and set a ceiling of 100,000 passengers departing until September 11, 2022.

He explained, in an open letter to passengers, that “at Heathrow Airport, we have witnessed 40 years of passenger growth in just four months, despite this, we have been able to secure travel for the vast majority of passengers,” adding: “This was only possible because of cooperation.” Close and planning with our airport partners including airlines and border forces.”

Kay pointed out, “New colleagues learn quickly but have not reached full speed yet, however, there are some vital jobs at the airport that still suffer from a significant lack of resources, especially ground handling workers, who are being contracted. By airlines to provide check-in staff, loading and unloading bags,” stressing, “We are doing our best with the available resources and we are providing them with as much support as possible, but this represents a significant limitation on the overall capacity of the airport.”
