The heat wave that hits much of the United States has a direct impact on the celebration of events. This Friday, the organization behind the triathlon of Boston confirmed the suspension of the appointment and its rescheduling for August 21.
The sporting event was scheduled to take place this Sunday; however, the weather forecast pointed to high temperatures, a counterproductive situation for the development of activities.
historical condition
“We take the health of our athletes, volunteers and spectators seriously. Boston does not compromise on athlete safety or experience. Due to the oppressive heat and humidity that might cause serious health issues while competing this weekend, we worked together with “The City of Boston and the State of Massachusetts to postpone the race until August. Everyone needs to stay safe and hydrate as much as possible this weekend.” ABC News Michael O’Neil, race director.
For the organizer there was nothing to discuss. “Current historical weather conditions” led to the decision and rescheduling of the event.
Tips to beat the heat:
- Look for air conditioning (library, mall, supermarket, friend’s house) or find a cooling center.
- Pick someone you can call for help or who can check on you.
- Keep hydrated.
- Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
- Take a cool shower or bath.
- Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day (between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.)
- Seek shade as much as possible if you are outdoors.
- Wear sunscreen and a ventilated hat (straw or mesh).
- Never leave children or pets in a parked car, even briefly, as temperatures in the car can reach dangerous levels in just a few minutes.
