Heat 2: Michael Mann in negotiations to direct the sequel to the 1995 film

According to the American site Deadline, Michael Mann is in negotiations with Warner Bros. studios. to adapt the novel “Heat 2”, co-written with Meg Gardiner last year. And which will be both a prequel and a sequel to the 1995 film, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

It’s just a matter of time. The American site Deadline announced that Michael Mann was in advanced negotiations with Warner Bros. for directing “Heat 2,” which would be both a prequel and sequel to the film he directed in 1995, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in the lead roles. The feature film will be the adaptation of his eponymous novel co-written with Meg Gardiner and published last August.

“Heat 2” will explore both the past of Neil McCauley – the character played by Robert De Niro – but also of Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer), and Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) before the events of the first film, as well as what happened to those who survived years later. The Deadline site specifies that Michael Mann would have personally approached Adam Driver to embody the younger version of McCauley. Information that has still not been confirmed, however.

During a conference organized at the Tribeca film festival last summer, Al Pacino had hinted that he would like to see Timothée Chalamet reprise his role of Lieutenant Vincent Hanna in a possible prequel. Again, no confirmation has been provided in this regard.
