HEARTWIRE, the solo project of Fachri Bayu Wicaksono (former guitarist for Orestes, a Jakarta death metal band), released a new single titled Sementara Tenang on July 12, 2024 via music streaming services Spotify and Apple Music.

The single is Heartwire’s first single following releasing their second album titled Dismal Narrative at the end of 2023.

In contrast to Dismal Narrative which is thick with dark techno nuances, now, Heartwire presents work that leans towards post-metal/post-rock/post-punk music.

In response to the differences in music genres he performs, Heartwire revealed that this was influenced by his emotions as someone who suffers from depression.

“Heartwire is my outlet for storytelling, journaling, and expressing emotions. Why the music genre can be so broad, it is influenced by my thoughts, both in depressive episodes and during manic episodes,” he said.

He added, “I have a hard time telling stories directly to people. I am more comfortable creating. For me, making songs is a more effective medium of communication.”

The song Sementara Tenang itself was successfully created thanks to influences in Heartwire’s personal life, one of which is grief over things that come and go at a time that can never be predicted.

“Trying to come to terms with loss is not easy. Not only losing people, but it can be from other things, such as spirit and hope. So the power of this song lies in the value of how someone can overcome the grief they experience,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tenang will be part of the third full album which is planned to be released at the end of this year.

Regarding the release of the third album, Heartwire said that his motivation was to provide encouragement to friends out there who have experienced a lot of rejection or even not being appreciated, whether in professional circles, friendships, or even family.

Regarding the production process, Heartwire did the recording, mixing, and mastering by themselves with the help of Gemuruh Adhityatama or familiarly called Gege (former drummer for Orestes, Grindbuto, and Divide) as a guest musician to fill the drum department.

Asked why he invited Gege as a guest musician, Heartwire explained, “Gege likes polyrhythmic beats just like me, so the collaboration process was also very easy to adjust. Plus, Gege and I had played together in Orestes for a long time.” (Z-1)
