They seek to prevent cardiovascular diseases and maintain control among those who suffer from it.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) plans to implement in Venezuela, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and local actors, the “Hearts” program, aimed at the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases, the international organization reported.
“The initiative seeks to progressively integrate existing health services to promote the adoption of the best global practices in the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases, with an emphasis on primary health care,” PAHO explained in a Press release.
During a recent meeting on cardiovascular health in which national and international speakers and more than 1,000 doctors participated, both in person and virtually, the PAHO team in the country presented “the main foundations and results of the implementation” of the program in other nations.
Dr. Héctor Ojeda, technical adviser of «Hearts» in Venezuela, met with «different scientific societies present», who expressed «their interest in participating in the adaptation and implementation of the program once it is installed in the country».
To this end, PAHO added, the cardiovascular health situation, the nation’s challenges and opportunities in this area, and the implementation strategy “in case the country decides to join” were evaluated.
