Turkish-American human rights activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, was killed after being shot in the head by Israeli forces (IDF) while taking part in weekly protests against settlement expansion in the West Bank.

Wafa News Agency reported that Eygi was later seriously wounded in the head. “The 26-year-old activist was evacuated to Rafida Hospital in Nablus, where he later died,” Wafa said.
The head of Rafidia Hospital, Fouad Nafaa, said that a woman arrived at the hospital in a very critical condition with serious head injuries. “We tried to perform resuscitation surgery on her, but unfortunately she died,” he said.
Wafa’s report noted that the IDF used live ammunition, stun grenades, and tear gas in an attempt to disperse the protest in Beita. In addition to fatally wounding Eygi, shrapnel also injured an 18-year-old Palestinian.
