Starches are a real fuel for the body. They contain complex carbohydrates which are slowly absorbed by the body. All are not necessarily caloric.

Polenta

On the list of low-calorie starchy foods, we can also mention polenta. This corn flour, source of protein, magnesium and potassium, provides regarding 85 calories per 100 grams.

THE BEAN

A good source of vitamins, fiber and minerals, the bean belongs to the legume family but is considered a starch because of its complex carbohydrate content. Its energy value is on average 65 calories per 100 grams.

THE QUINOA

If you want to pay attention to your line, you can also opt for quinoa. This food is rich in minerals, vitamins, proteins, and relatively low in calories. A 100 gram serving of cooked quinoa provides approximately 110 calories.

Wheat semolina

Finally, 100 grams of wheat semolina (cooked) has around 100 calories. But the number of calories can quickly climb if your hand is a little too heavy on the butter or olive oil.

Potato

Contrary to popular belief, the potato is not at all caloric. It contains only 90 calories per 100 g. In fact, it’s how you cook it that will make all the difference. For example, adding butter in large quantities will increase your calorie balance.
