Healthy foods that reduce blood cholesterol

Although cholesterol is essential for the body, it can become a health hazard when its levels rise too high, potentially clogging arteries and increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Avoiding exercise and eating fatty foods are among the main causes of high cholesterol, along with smoking and drinking too much alcohol.

“Let’s talk regarding foods that can actually improve your lipid profile by lowering triglycerides and raising good HDL cholesterol,” Kourtney said in a post on her TikTok account. “Starting with healthy fats, which we get from avocados, nuts, and seeds, eggs also contain more micronutrients, which can improve your cholesterol levels.”

“Fiber is key to lowering cholesterol levels, and leafy greens are one of the richest sources of fiber in the diet. Make sure to eat three servings of leafy greens a day,” she added.

“Lean proteins will help increase muscle mass, balance blood sugar and reduce overall inflammation,” Courtney continued. “Seafood is also full of anti-inflammatory fats and should be included in your diet twice a week. Sweet potatoes and gluten-free grains have also been shown to help lower cholesterol levels, as have blueberries, spices like turmeric and ginger, and green tea.”
