Asuncion, IP Agency.- Given the success of night consultations, the Ministry of Public Health is extending this strategy to 44 Family Health Units located in the Central, Presidente Hayes, Alto Paraná and Itapúa departments and in Asunción. This is to facilitate access to medical care for the population, closer to home, and to relieve the pressure on hospital emergency services.
The health portfolio is expanding the night consultation service that currently operates in 35 hospitals and will reach 79 by the end of December this year, with the gradual incorporation of the strategy in 44 USF.
The decision aims to improve access to medical consultations in communities, as well as to relieve the burden on hospital emergency rooms for the treatment of non-urgent cases that require specialist care in the office.
The health ministry clarifies that although the USF facilities will be used, extended hours from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. will not be provided by family health teams, which will continue their usual work from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., to develop the primary health care strategy.
The head of the Ministry of Health, María Teresa Barán, announced that thanks to the success of the night clinics, the new measure will be implemented to expand access to medical care in the country. She highlighted that there will even be professional psychologists as part of the Sumar program and that as the government of Paraguay, we are taking another step in our commitment to the health of all.
Minister Barán ordered that this measure must be operational in all designated units before December 2024 and the gradual implementation will be adjusted to the specific needs of each department, to ensure an effective and efficient transition.

The Family Health Units where this extended hours modality will be implemented include the USF Bo. San Pedro Stage 4, Santo Domingo, San Antonio Ypecuru, San Isidro Stage 1, Itapaso, San Isidro Stage 7 and Bo San Pedro Stage 1, in the department of Itapúa.
In Presidente Hayes, there are also the USF Monte Sociedad and Remansito – San Jorge; while in the capital, there are the USF- Pelopincho II, San Felipe, Blanco Cue, Perpetuo Socorro I, 3 de Febrero II San Blas, Sta. Rosa Trinidad, San Juan, San Blas – Cateura, Santa Ana, Yukyty, Caes Capellanes, Cs No. 8 and Cs Zeballos Kue.
Likewise the USF Don Bosco, Bo. Remansito, Bethlehem Settlement, San Agustín Neighborhood and Km 11 Acaray; while in Central, the USF- Post Ybycua, Villa Constitution, San Jose Obrero, Santo Domingo, Santa Rosa, Ycua Duré, 1 of May, Tarumandy, Loma Merlo, Immaculate Conception Bogado Island, Settlement La Amistad, Villa Alegre, San Blas , Marquetalia, Ma. Help of Christians, Virgin of the Remedies and Mbocayaty.
