Health: what are you at risk of histamine poisoning?

If you bought tuna steaks at Grand Frais, do not eat them! These products have been recalled by the Rappel Conso site and for good reason: a risk of histamine poisoning. The expiry dates for these items were March 7 and 8, 2023.

The risk of this poisoning “is manifested by allergic-type reactions triggered when histamine is absorbed in high quantities”.

Histamine, what is it?

According to the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (Anses), “Histamine is a naturally synthesized biological molecule in humans and animals. It is present in all fish at normally low levels which increase at room temperature”.

Histamine is found in certain fish such as tuna, mackerel, sardines or even swordfish, according to the French public establishment.

If you have not eaten this tuna steak, you can go to the consumer service at Grand Frais. You will then be refunded. This refund procedure is open until March 23, 2023.
