Health: The “Marburg” virus is transmitted through contact with the patient’s blood or other body fluids, and severe headaches are the most prominent symptoms

The Ministry of Health said that Marburg virus is transmitted through contact with the patient’s blood or other body fluids that contain the virus in high concentrations, or through contact with surfaces contaminated with the patient’s body fluids.

The official spokesman of the ministry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, said in a press statement today, Saturday, that the incubation period ranges from two to 21 days, and the most prominent early symptoms are severe headache, high fever, weakness and weakness in the body, and muscle pain, pointing out that the most prominent late symptoms are nausea, vomiting, and pain. Severe abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, and blood in the vomit or stool.

Dr. Al-Sanad said that prevention consists in avoiding contact with the body fluids of the person suspected of being infected and his close contacts (especially home residents and health care providers), pointing out that so far there is no effective vaccine once morest the virus.

He pointed out that the level of the epidemiological situation locally is very low due to the scarcity of travel to the countries where the current outbreak occurs, in addition to the absence of direct flights with those countries and regionally. No case of the disease was detected in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries or the eastern Mediterranean region during the current epidemic outbreak.
