Asuncion, IP Agency.– The Health Superintendency ordered this Friday the performance of an ex officio medical audit in the general surgery service of the Ingavi Surgical Specialty Hospital, of the Social Security Institute, in relation to the reported events regarding a death due to alleged negligence.
The resolution of the Superintendency, signed by the Superintendent of Health, Dr. Roberto Melgarejo Palacios, indicates that the medical audit will seek to determine whether the protocols have been consistently complied with in relation to the quality of care in the health service, in the case publicly denounced as alleged negligence after the death of the patient Maria Rebeca Jara.
The resolution designates the auditing officials of the Directorate of Institutional Control of the Health Superintendence, doctors María Emilia Llano Mas, Rebeca Salerno Chavez and María Cristina Barrios Battilana, together with the lawyer Enrique Román Rivas, as responsible for organizing and coordinating the medical audit.
The Health Superintendency is responsible, by law, for the accreditation and quality control of health services offered by both the public and private systems of the country and has among its powers the performance of medical audits regarding the quality of care provided by hospitals.
