“Health” reveals the fact that singer Sherine Abdel Wahab is detained at Heliopolis Hospital for the treatment of addiction

The General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Population, denied the rumors that the singer, Sherine Abdel Wahab, was detained with the knowledge of her family at the Heliopolis Hospital for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment.

The secretariat confirmed that this information is completely false, and that it does not have accurate information about the whereabouts of the aforementioned artist or about her health condition.

She explained that the hospitals and its affiliated centers, which are spread in 16 governorates of the Republic, respect and operate in accordance with the Psychiatric Patient Care Law No. 71 of 2009 and its amendments for the year 2021, which stipulates that the drug addiction patient may not be detained against his will, and that the General Secretariat strongly refuses to put its name or any from its hospitals in that incident.

It is worth noting that the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment is the central entity of the Ministry of Health and Population entrusted with providing mental health and addiction treatment services through its affiliated hospitals and centers in 16 Egyptian governorates, totaling 23 hospitals and centers for the treatment of addiction, six of which are in Greater Cairo: El Abbasiya and El Khanka Helwan, Heliopolis, Benha, and Imbaba, and seven hospitals and centers in the Delta sector: Tanta, Shabraqas in the Gharbia, Shebin El-Koum, Mit Siraj in Menoufia, Al-Azzazi in Sharqia, Damira in Dakahlia, and Franco Bazalea Center in Beheira. Six hospitals in the Upper Egypt sector are: Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Alwan, Sohag and Aswan. In addition to 4 hospitals in the coastal areas, namely Mamoura Hospital, Abbas Helmy Center in Alexandria Governorate, Port Said Hospital, and El Azima Center in Hurghada.

Last March, the General Secretariat launched its national electronic platform under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Population and in cooperation with the World Health Organization, to provide mental health and addiction treatment services to all citizens, including the provision of free treatment sessions (online) and in complete confidentiality of patient information interacting through it, and it is the first platform It is one of its kind in the Middle East in the field of mental health and addiction treatment, and the number of visitors to the platform has reached more than 48,000 so far.
