Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Health reported that it has proceeded to notify, for the second time, the supplier company Almos SA, the only supplier in the country of the drug Pembrolizumab, used in oncological treatment. It is currently in short supply due to supply problems on the part of the manufacturer.
The Ministry of Health issued a first notice to the company, demanding compliance with the active contract (No. 11/2024) and purchase orders for the acquisition of 9,568 units of Pembrolizumab, provided free of charge to cancer patients.
After this first intimation, the company promised to deliver the medicine between September 19 and 23, a deadline that has not been met. Given this situation, a new summons was issued again.
“The Ministry of Health reiterates its firm commitment to continue taking all necessary measures to guarantee access to treatment for each of the cancer patients who use this drug,” the institution states in a statement.
This situation directly affects about 200 patients of the National Cancer Institute, including those treated in decentralized health networks and those who access this medication through protection resources.
