Health: Providing reproductive health services to 41,000 beneficiaries during the past month

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the provision of free reproductive health services and family planning methods to 41,343 beneficiaries during the month of April, through mobile clinics andHealth Caravans Reproductive issues, in the context of concern for family health and development, and to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the ministry provided family planning services and means for free through 79 convoys, in addition to 2,134 visits to mobile clinics that were implemented in remote and most cared areas at the level of the Republic, pointing out that these convoys and mobile clinics provided their services to 41 thousand and 343 female beneficiaries, including 9 thousand 431 new female beneficiaries.

Abdul Ghaffar added that the ministry provides technical support to clinics affiliated with NGOs by training their working teams to provide family planning services with high quality, and they are provided with family planning methods periodically, according to their needs, pointing out that two clinics have been opened to provide family planning services at the International Islamic Center for Studies and Islamic Research in Sharkia Governorate, and the second in Zayed Specialized Hospital in Giza Governorate, bringing the total of “supported” NGOs clinics that provide family planning services to 484 clinics, with 419 clinics affiliated with NGOs, and 65 clinics affiliated with the “2 Kefaya” project.

For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, Head of Population and Family Planning Sector, indicated that the total number of beneficiaries’ visits to family planning units amounted to 1,754,657 visits, including 154,483 new beneficiaries, pointing out that 2,188,964 means of various kinds were spent.

Abbas said that 1,411,515 home visits were carried out by rural women leaders in all governorates of the Republic, through which 76,781 educational seminars were presented to raise awareness of family planning services and means, promote health services and raise health awareness for the community, pointing to the transfer of 750,420 Beneficiary for service provision outlets.

He pointed out that 46,257 seminars were held in women’s clubs, to develop their own capabilities and gain them more experience, which helps empower them economically. 32,494 women were trained in some crafts such as handicrafts, leather products, sewing and knitting, which the beneficiaries produce following their training through Women’s club officials, believing in the importance of supporting women’s development, raising the economic level of Egyptian families, and raising women’s ability to make decisions, especially the decision to have children, as part of the objectives of improving demographic characteristics.

Abbas added that 4 training courses were held for 41 doctors from service providers and technical supervisors in the governorates on the installation of the hormonal IUD, in addition to holding 8 training courses for 120 educated populations in the governorates of Beheira, Qalyubia, Sharkia, Beni Suef and Minya on the developed program for rural women pioneers.
