After the arrival of coronavirus to Venezuela, almost two years ago, hospitals, their health personnel and the patients themselves were vulnerable due to the precarious conditions in which the country’s health centers are found.

Before COVID-19 began to wreak havoc, public hospitals were already mired in an unprecedented health crisis.

For this reason, the Frente Amplio Profesional (FAP-Salud) issued a release this Tuesday to demand from the State medical supplies and true conditions to be able to efficiently attend to patients who need it.

The letter was spread by Rafael Veloz, deputy to the National Assembly, through Twitter, in which he ensures that the entire Venezuelan health sector cannot fulfill its work in a health system that is in the pit. And fewer can subsist on a salary that does not cover any of their needs.

FAP-Health experts affirmed that not only the sector is affected by the health crisis, but all citizens who must be cared for, this because of the economic debacle that Venezuela is going through in which few are lucky enough to be cared for in a public hospital, without first dying.

A latent reality

The FAP-Salud expressed that the first thing to do is carry out a thorough and comprehensive diagnosis of the country’s hospital network. However, he stressed that the conditions to carry out a work of this magnitude have limitations, because the State “will do whatever it takes to prevent it.”

For this reason, health experts will appeal to “their ingenuity and determination” so that Venezuelans know what the true situation is in which health centers find themselves, despite the fact that hundreds of thousands know regarding it.

“We refer to those who have had to go to a hospital and find that there are no supplies and that the diagnostic devices, as well as the treatment devices, do not work, which puts their lives at high risk,” says the text.

They recalled that following the covid in the country, they (health workers) have been at the forefront battling the virus, exposing themselves and even giving their lives to save others. Even so, they receive remuneration “that does not allow them to have the most basic things to support themselves and their families,” for which they classified it as “illogical and criminal.”

Health personnel ask to be vaccinated

In this sense, the Frente Amplio Profesional called on all members of the health sector to “fight for the health of citizens and to enforce the mandate dictated by the Constitution of Venezuela in terms of labor compensation for all workers in the country.”

And given the rebound in covid-19 cases, FAP-Health experts asked the entire population not to neglect personal protection measures once morest the omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

They also assured that it is false that 90% of citizens are vaccinated, as he claimed recently Nicolás Maduro.

The FAP-Salud also coincided with the statements from the infectologist Julio Castro, who indicated that the risk of a new wave of the virus in Venezuela is latent in regarding two weeks. They urged the population not only to continue with the mask and other care, but to get vaccinated.
