Health | Pays d’Aubagne: the mayors of the territory finally lined up behind the new hospital project

Is this the end of long weeks of tension around the new hospital? On the side of the mayors, perhaps this is now the case. After having long considered to be deprived of information, in particular the mayor of La Destrousse Michel Lan denouncing a lack of consultation with the elected officials of the territory, the Aubagne Hospital Center has officially launched the “committee of mayors of the new territory hospital“. Bringing together elected officials from 15 municipalities ranging from Cadolive to Carnoux-en-Provence as well as three mayors of Marseille districts (9/10, 11, 13/14), it must be “a strong act for the New Hospital Project which underlines their unfailing commitment and support to this project“, according to the committee.

During the presentation of the project to the press in early June, Gérard Gazay, mayor of Aubagne and chairman of the hospital’s supervisory board, clarified the role of this committee. If he has no say in the content of the project, he must “inform the mayors who will in turn relay this new hospital to the populations“, explained Gérard Gazay. With this union, the new body has asserted its support for the project with the Regional Health Agency (Ars) where the last few months might suggest the opposite. Symbolic union or real work of agreement, remains that if the mayors have their committee, the unions them still remain to be convinced.
