LR.in Prettner: The states’ willingness to implement sustainable reforms remains unbroken – financing of the healthcare system must be secured

Klagenfurt (OTS/LPD) The health officers of the federal states met today, Thursday, in Vienna at the invitation of the Minister of Health. It was emphasized to Health Minister Johannes Rauch that the current ongoing underfunding of the healthcare system and future problems arising from inflation and the development of personnel costs are the central challenges of the outpatient and inpatient healthcare system.

“As the current chair of the health advisors, I unfortunately have to announce on their behalf that no agreement might be reached in our exchange with the Health Minister today. The minister did not support the proposal to secure the financing of the healthcare system,” said Prettner. She explained that in recent years the countries have made many proposals for further development and sustainable reforms. “Our willingness to do this remains unbroken, but as part of the financial equalization, the questions regarding the sustainable financing of the foundation of patient care must now be clarified,” emphasized the health officer. In any case, Rauch promised that he would discuss this issue with the Finance Minister.
