The Minister of Health has been conspicuous by his absence in recent months, as many have been calling for his presence in Outaouais given the state of the health network. Christian Dubé began a two-day visit to Outaouais on Monday, but he showed up empty-handed.
Without fanfare or trumpet, Minister Christian Dubé arrived in Outaouais on Monday. He wanted to salute the work of the health teams to limit the damage during the summer period.
I want to thank the teams because they are doing a very, very good job, I would say, in very difficult conditions.
-Christian Dubé, Minister of Health
While the health network is hanging by a thread, the minister had nothing new to announce. Meanwhile, the flying teams promised in the spring are still awaited. Pleased with the minister’s visit to the region, the CEO of the CISSSO reiterates that more long-term solutions are needed.
It is clear that this cannot be a long-term plan. That is why we are working on a plan that will be longer term, more viable.
-Dr Luc Bilodeau, CEO of CISSSO
The president of the Fondation Santé Gatineau is still calling for pay equity with Ontario. In the meantime, the health network is still faced with growing waiting lists for surgeries and consultations with specialist physicians. There is still the issue of medical imaging technologists to resolve, as the fateful date of September 9 approaches quickly.
