“I had an appointment on August 6, which had already been postponed since I was supposed to have it in July. An appointment that I had made more than four months ago. And now it’s been cancelled even though I have to see my surgeon in a few days. We can’t block an MRI like that with people who have serious pathologies,” worried a patient at the Saintes hospital on Monday, August 19, waiting for a new date.

So what is happening at the Saintes hospital? The communications department of the Saintes hospital confirmed on Tuesday, August 20, that the imaging department must deal with the sick leave of a radiographer, which occurred at the beginning of August. This led to the immediate cancellation of a certain number of examinations.

But a part, “the most urgent”, was rescheduled during additional shifts: two full Saturdays and two half-days during the week. “We reorganized ourselves.” Thanks to “an agent who made himself available” to ensure these shifts, a hundred deprogrammed patients were able to undergo MRIs very quickly.

“Emergency examinations, doubt removal or oncology examinations” are carried out as a priority. “Medical secretaries do their best to reschedule and reschedule appointments, according to the prescriptions made by the doctors”, assures the Saintes hospital which has another lever by directing some of the patients to the Jonzac hospital center. “Everything is done to limit the loss of opportunity.”
