The General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment organized the second conference of child and adolescent psychiatry, for 3 days, in Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate, under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population, entitled “Setting the compass of mental health services towards services community for children and adolescents.
The conference discussed awareness of mental health for children and adolescents, targeting community leaders and parents, and those who deal with children and adolescents, psychological changes in adolescents and identifying relationships, in addition to the impact of excessive use of the Internet on the brain, within the plan of the General Secretariat for Mental Health, to provide psychological support services in governorates that suffer from lack of services Psychological health.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the conference included many lectures and workshops on symptoms and psychological disorders in children and adolescents, with the participation of specialized professors from various Egyptian universities, in addition to training mental health doctors, and specializations related to diagnosing psychological symptoms in Children and adolescents, and how to treat and deal with them.
Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the political leadership pays great attention to the mental health file of children and adolescents, and is working to develop the skills of mental health care providers.
During the conference, Dr. Manen Abdel Maksoud, Secretary-General of the Mental Health Secretariat at the Ministry of Health and Population, announced the provision of specialized medical services in the field of psychiatry for children and adolescents, through more than 80,000 consultations annually, through hospitals and centers affiliated with the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment at the level of governorates.
