Health: Intensive training courses to raise the efficiency of mental health workers
The Ministry of Health and Population announced the provision of specialized medical services in the field of mental health through 19,817 visits to hospitals and centers of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, within three months, in addition to providing treatment services during 166,307 visits to outpatient clinics at the level of the governorates of the Republic.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the teams of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment conducted tests to detect drug abuse for 43,269 employees of the state’s administrative apparatus, in addition to developing a program for treating addiction with opioid alternatives, in addition to holding educational seminars. regarding the harms of smoking, in addition to launching the “Eid Min Khairah” campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of addiction, for the fourth year in a row.

Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that several training courses were carried out for more than 200 doctors and nurses from various hospitals of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment; With the aim of raising the efficiency of dealing with critical cases facing addictive patients, in addition to holding intensive training courses and workshops for workers in the hospitals of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, including psychologists and social workers, nurses, doctors, and pharmacists; With the aim of enhancing care and treatment services for people living with immunodeficiency disease.

He stated that the political leadership attaches great importance to the citizens’ mental health file, and to developing and rehabilitating the skills of mental health care providers, pointing to the continuation of providing full support for mental health.

For her part, Dr. Manen Abdel-Maqsoud, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, explained that the “Eid from Others” campaign was launched through the 22 hospitals and centers of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment in 22 governorates, noting that the Secretariat presented during In 2021, addiction treatment and rehabilitation services were provided to 137,684 patients, who visited addiction clinics in hospitals and centers affiliated with the General Secretariat, and 4168 patients received treatment in the internal departments of the Secretariat’s hospitals and centers.
