**Interview with Dr. Isabelle Dupont, Chair of the Health Innovation Strategic Council**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Dupont. To start, can you give us an overview of the Health Innovation Strategic Council and its purpose in shaping health innovations?
**Dr. Dupont:** Absolutely. The Health Innovation Strategic Council is designed to bridge gaps between various health system stakeholders. It proactively formulates proposals focused on health innovations and provides guidance on methodological evaluations. Our meetings are crucial for monitoring ongoing experiments and determining best practices for their potential broader implementation.
**Editor:** It sounds like a significant responsibility. Recently, you’ve issued notices regarding the end of experimentation for various projects. What factors contribute to these decisions?
**Dr. Dupont:** Each proposal undergoes rigorous evaluation based on clarity of objectives, effectiveness, and feasibility. We ask ourselves whether the innovations have proven beneficial and if scaling them would enhance the overall health system. Our goal is to eliminate any inefficiencies and ensure only the best practices are considered for wider adoption.
**Editor:** There’s some debate in the public about the transparency and inclusion of diverse voices in these innovation processes. What measures are you taking to ensure that various stakeholders are heard?
**Dr. Dupont:** That’s a great question. Transparency is critical to our work. We engage with a variety of health professionals, patient representatives, and health technology experts to gather comprehensive insights. It’s essential that the voices of those directly impacted by health innovations are included.
**Editor:** Do you think the current framework for adopting health innovations could be improved? For instance, how receptive do you feel the public is towards new healthcare practices advised by the council?
**Dr. Dupont:** The receptiveness can vary widely among the public. Some are eager for new practices, while others remain skeptical. This hesitance often stems from concerns about safety or efficacy. We need to foster an environment where informed discussions can take place, allowing the community to weigh the benefits against potential risks.
**Editor:** A final thought for our readers: How can they contribute to this conversation on health innovations, and what impact do you think public input might have on future directions?
**Dr. Dupont:** I encourage everyone to engage with us—whether through public consultations, feedback sessions, or by participating in discussions on community health forums. The more ideas, concerns, and suggestions we hear from the public, the better we can tailor innovative solutions to meet their needs. Ultimately, public input can significantly influence the direction of health practices, ensuring they truly resonate with those they intend to serve.
**Editor:** Thank you, Dr. Dupont. We look forward to seeing how these discussions evolve and how the Council’s work will benefit the health sector in the coming years.
***Question for the Readers:*** What are your thoughts on the Health Innovation Strategic Council’s approach to integrating public feedback into healthcare innovations? Do you believe such a model is effective, or should there be more direct involvement from the community?
