Health in Gaza reveals the developments of the suspected case of acute hepatitis C

Head of the Epidemiology and Epidemiological Monitoring Department at the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Haitham Omran, said that “during the past weeks, a disease of unknown cause was detected in the world, which was called acute mysterious viral hepatitis”, and it is mysterious because it is similar to the same symptoms as hepatitis, such as yellowing of the skin, pain in the Abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea, elevated liver enzymes, but this varies when doing epidemiological tests, the result is negative.”

And he continued, in an exclusive interview with “Dunia Al-Watan”, “There appeared in the world 170 cases, in Europe and America, 12 cases in Israel, and Gaza announced yesterday the first suspected case that is similar to those cases.”

He added, “Now we have carried out the tests and are continuing to conduct them, and we have contacted the World Health Organization to confirm whether it is the same disease prevalent in the world,” noting that so far it is similar to all the details, and it has not been proven that what has been diagnosed in the rest of the countries.

Regarding the details of the case announced by the Ministry of Health, Omran said that “a five-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital with symptoms, abdominal pain, vomiting, and slight yellowing. Her condition worsened day following day, and she was admitted to intensive care.”

He explained, “We in the Ministry of Health are following up on this issue, and we have strengthened the epidemiological monitoring system in hospitals and care centers, and in cooperation with the UNRWA, how to deal and report these cases, and we are also communicating with the World Health Organization first hand so that we can provide the necessary services for our people and keep them away from these diseases.” .
