Health: Expanding early detection of AIDS in order to reach zero new infections

The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed the expansion of early detection methods AIDSIn a way that contributes to reducing the chances of transmission of infection, and reaching “zero” new infections, noting the hotline services provided by the Ministry, through the numbers (33152802), (33152801) and (08007008000), to receive citizens’ inquiries regarding the human immunodeficiency virus.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, told Youm7 that the National AIDS Control Program is coordinating work between all bodies and institutions working in the field of AIDS in Egypt, to ensure no duplication, commitment and consistency with the national framework, regulations and laws governing the eradication of this virus.

He added that early detection of mothers carrying the virus ensures that the infection is not transmitted to fetuses, praising the initiative of the President of the Republic to support the health of the mother and fetus, under the slogan (100 million health), which contributes to providing examination services and early detection of the disease, with the aim of achieving zero infections among newborns of mothers. HIV-positive women, in addition to providing psychological support to (living people).

He continued: Egypt is one of the first countries that witnessed a significant decrease in the rates of infection with the disease, compared to the countries of the region, noting that providing health services, including non-discrimination and stigma, is a right guaranteed to people with this disease.
