Health Bazaars: A Unique Wellness Center for Caregivers in Vichy

Health Bazaars: A Unique Wellness Center for Caregivers in Vichy

2024-02-28 17:11:00

A project for caregivers, and by caregivers. Her name ? Health Bazaars. An acronym to challenge, behind which lies an ambitious desire. That, carried by a truly courageous doctor, Candice Delbet-Dupas, to open a new kind of health establishment at the gates of Vichy. Details.

She doesn’t want to wait until it’s too late. That the caregivers are definitely tired and that the vocations are no longer there. She wants, once more and always, in 2024 as for the future, that the profession of caregiver is still a vocation. And may this profession retain its full meaning. Because she is convinced: “If we don’t believe in a profession, then we don’t do it, or no longer do it.”

Code name: Bazaars.

So, so that there are still caregivers, and healthy caregivers, Doctor Candice Delbet-Dupas, surgeon at Vichy hospital, decided to act, supported by her companion Benjamin, physiotherapist. And this, by carrying out a project that “gave meaning to his life”, nothing less. Code name: Bazaars. For Zen and health resource box.

A patient on a stretcher for 72 hours: the “hospital under tension” plan launched in Vichy

It is there, in this former restaurant closed for four years, that the center should see the light of day.
A well-ordered “bazaar” in this case, such is the great ambition. Better: “It has no equivalent in France, perhaps not even in Europe,” assures Candice, hardly afraid of the challenges. That’s good: there will be many of them for her and her Bazars team in the coming months.

Yoga, osteopathy, peer support, listening…

This is because Candice has already set a clear course: the month of December 2024. There, in place of the former restaurant La Colombière, in Abrest, the health professional and all the players in her association hope to be able to open a health center of a unique kind. Because it will be regarding welcoming… caregivers. Who, today, faced with fatigue and the impression of no longer being able to do their job well, “no longer feel connected, recharged, or in agreement with their values. But we must give them the means to regain all of this,” says Candice, herself a victim of suffering at work and even burn-out two years ago.

Significant work will have to be carried out to restore the restaurant to its original condition (here on the kitchen side).
And one of these ways to help caregivers will therefore be a unique site of its kind. A specific center and even a real cocoon where caregivers of all profiles will be able to find a whole range of tools to think regarding themselves a little, and even a lot. The center, with a holistic dimension, will offer à la carte osteopathy, meditation, yoga and even psychomotor services.

Also subject to the payment of a small contribution, integrative health workshops (personalized management of the subject) or soft kills (work on communication skills, on emotional intelligence) are also planned. Another pillar of the project: the practice of peer assistance, or “a sharing of experiences between caregivers in order to encourage and re-motivate each other”.

“Today there is an absolute urgency to take care of those who provide care, without which no one will be able to be cared for with dignity…
It’s a challenge, but I’m no longer one challenge away. “

A hive of kindness and listening led by and for caregivers, therefore, which will not be intended to be curative, but rather to allow caregivers to reconnect with well-being in their work. And, by extension, in their personal lives. “Many health professionals neglect care for themselves, while they encourage it for patients. This situation must evolve, today there is an absolute urgency to take care of those who provide care, without which no one will be able to be cared for with dignity…”, Candice further supports.

“It’s people like everyone else who lose their temper”: emergencies in the face of ever more violence

And the Vichyssoise is already supported in its project by multiple health professionals, hospital or self-employed, knowing that it is they, precisely, who will lead the workshops and keep the center alive. Volunteers who would come according to their possibilities, their desires, their needs too, they who would find there the opportunity to diversify their activities, “which is fundamental in the prevention of professional burnout”.

The future center will also want to keep the soul and charm of a place known to many residents of the Vichy region.

Putting the connection back at the heart of the lives of health professionals

Above all, such emulation between caregivers will also make it possible, according to the founder of the center, to “put the link back” at the heart of the lives of health care workers, while today, our professions tend to become dehumanized and We don’t even have time to talk anymore. But if the caregiver is dehumanized, so is the patient.”
The human. A fundamental notion in short for a project which aims to lay the foundations for “the health of tomorrow”. A health in which caregivers are no longer simple links doomed to suffer in silence, but fully fulfilled actors in their profession. “It’s a challenge,” smiles Candice. But I’m no longer one challenge away.”

A long rehabilitation in sight.
Candice Delbet-Dupas and her partner Benjamin Dupas definitively acquired the former restaurant of La Colombière, in Abrest, at the end of December 2023. The establishment, which long belonged to the Sabot family, has been closed since the beginning of 2020.
The association of Zen and health resource boxes (Bazars) was founded last October. She has been a tenant since January 1 of this former restaurant with a surface area of 620 m2, which will have to be completely rehabilitated at the cost of a project estimated at 1.5 million euros.
Here is access to the old restaurant room, which has remained in its original state…
A sum that might be financed via a crowdfunding campaign, a call for foundations, or a request for public subsidies.
The transformation of the restaurant, many of which need to be completely renovated, is a long-term mission. The health center will host treatment, relaxation and work rooms, but also relaxation and conviviality spaces, even a hammam and an escape game. All with a view overlooking the Allier.
