Health: 65% of infected people do not have symptoms, and the peak of the fourth wave has not started

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the Egyptian state is always prepared for the worst in the Corona virus, but what was observed with the fourth wave and Omicron is the direct correlation between the rates of increase in infections and hospitalizations, so there is no longer a direct correlation between the increase in infections and hospitalizations.

He explained that the numbers that are announced are the ones that frequented hospitals, but there is a study related to symptoms that found that 60 to 65% of infected people do not have symptoms, noting that the peak of the fourth wave has not yet begun.

Regarding medicines, he said: “For the first time, oral drugs are talked regarding, and the state contracted with AstraZeneca to obtain a drug for intramuscular injection to prevent infection,” noting that Egypt has completed the first phase of the Egyptian vaccine and the results are very encouraging.
