Healing Harmony: Musica Viva Brings Music to the Frontlines

The Moscow chamber orchestra Musica Viva, together with the charity foundation “Our Power for Good”, regularly holds concerts for wounded participants of the Northern Military District, reports portal mayor and government of Moscow.

Cooperation between the foundation and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra began in January of this year, when 10 soldiers of the North Military District, including wheelchair users, attended a concert in the large hall of the Moscow Zaryadye Concert Hall, as well as at the orchestra’s performances at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory .

Russian fighters heard Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Bach cantatas and other masterpieces of classical music. In addition, Russian soloists performed for the foundation’s wards, among them opera diva Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, as well as laureates of international violin competitions Daniil Kogan, Ravilya Islyamova and Elena Korzhenevich.

The total number of SVO soldiers who attended the concerts of the Musica Viva orchestra exceeded 300 people. After performances, they often meet backstage with the artists and chat in an informal setting.

Also, since November last year, the orchestra has been collaborating with the Central Clinical Military Sanatorium in Arkhangelsk, where it performs for military personnel undergoing rehabilitation there. So, the first concert took place in the medical building, and the second in the institution’s club. The hospital management celebrated the concert with letters of gratitude and asked them to prepare the “Farewell of the Slav” march for the soldiers next time.

Earlier, participants in the special military operation became guests of the forum-festival “Territory of the Future. Moscow 2030” in Zaryadye Park under the program of the capital’s Department of Culture. Soldiers undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Gorki sanatorium took part in special excursion events that the department prepared for them.
