Large-scale operation on Wednesday evening in Hamburg: A man was seriously injured by a shot in the head on the Veddel, he is still in mortal danger. Police are still looking for the suspect and are appealing for witnesses.

At 9:41 p.m., an attempted homicide is said to have occurred in Slomanstrasse. The police are convinced of this, and the homicide commission is investigating the exact background. Passers-by had discovered a man lying injured on the sidewalk in the area of ​​a sports field. The police said the passers-by heard a gunshot.

According to the police, the victim is a 37-year-old who, after receiving first aid, was taken to the hospital by an emergency doctor and operated on immediately. “There is still danger to life,” said the police on Thursday morning. According to MOPO information, around 70 friends and relatives of the man gathered in front of the hospital where the victim is being cared for during the night, but the situation remained calm.

The search for one or more perpetrators on Wednesday evening was unsuccessful, although more than a dozen patrol cars, police dogs, riot police and the police helicopter “Libelle” were used. The investigations are being conducted by the public prosecutor’s office and the homicide commission, and the State Criminal Police Office’s forensics were also on duty on the Veddel.
