Heads of units met in the Directorate of Public Finance (Directorate of Imports and Value Added Tax, Directorate of Exchanges, Directorate of General Accounting, Directorate of Public Debt, Nabatiyeh Finance, North Lebanon Finance, Akkar Finance, Bekaa Finance, Mount Lebanon Finance, Baalbek-Hermel Finance, and in coordination with the Directorate of Finance The Treasury, the Budget and Expenditure Control Directorate, and the Administrative Affairs and Finance Directorate of South Lebanon).
The attendees demanded “a minimum standard of living, in light of the impossibility of securing the needs of their families, as a result of the significant deterioration in their salaries, despite the graciously attempt of the Minister of Finance to support, no solution has been reached that secures the employees’ minimum rights,” and decided “not to return to work or even attend.” For two days, except following securing the necessary and immediate minimum to pay the salaries of the Ministry of Finance’s employees, according to the formula of 8000 Lebanese pounds to the dollar, and working to equalize the employees in terms of covering the cost of transportation on the basis of calculating liters of gasoline, taking into account their residence status.”
The attendees stressed the need for “immediate correction of the salaries of Ministry of Finance employees by adopting the platform price and securing fuel for employees to reach their work, as working for two days needs the equivalent of the monthly salary,” and expressed “their apologies in advance from the honorable citizens and employees of public administrations for announcing the open strike.” For directorates, interests and funds of the Ministry of Finance, and those responsible for the inability to be present at work, accomplish tasks and attend meetings.”
