Headphones #119: When the spark(s) jump

There is no right or wrong. If this music doesn’t put you in the mood to party, you should think regarding the functionality of your emotional center. What became a world music phenomenon with the golden Motown era really caught a group of Upper Austrians in the 1990s. They now conjure up the spirit of their younger days with music that for them is inseparably linked to a carefree time with wild parties.

The song is called “1995” and has a typical soul-funk beat with beautiful melodies and a brass section that makes the rhythm even more rousing and is intended to hark back to the old days. With this mood-maker, SoulSanity are back on the musical stage. The song “1995” serves as a bridge between yesterday and today.

“It’s a tribute to the unforgettable parties, the friendships that felt like family,” explains band leader and composer Philipp Hörtenhuber regarding the idea behind “1995”. The Upper Austrians wanted to evoke the carefree spirit of that era, and they succeeded in doing so. A little more of that spirit would certainly not be a mistake these days. Soul is the true, the real, the soul. SoulSanity are good ambassadors of this music. On August 8th they will play at the OKH Vöcklabruck. A home game.

Beatsteaks „Please“ (BeatRec)
“Detractors” is the hit on the album called “Please”, in which an old saying proves itself: what was once good can never go bad. Even following decades in the business, the German rock quintet still has so much bite and energy that it results in great songs like “Goodbye”, “Against All Logic” and “Magic Feel”. Straightforward and honest.

Christoph Sakwerda “Complicated”
Love – it might be simple, but it is often really complicated. Why is that so, asks Christoph Sakwerda and does so with an uncomplicated pop song that is easy to catch and whose message will make you nod.

Coldplay „Feels like I’m falling in love“:
Chris Martin, Coldplay and love – that has touched people’s hearts many times. This song is also in the happy mode, which comes very close to the feeling of being in love and believing that you are flying.

Gregor Meyle “One the best”:
It’s not that difficult to be good if you think you have everything you need. Gregor Meyle appeals in his wonderfully light and yet emphatic way that everyone is the architect of their own happiness and can easily be one of the best if they uncover the good in themselves and let it run free. Great song, great artist.
