A head-on collision between two cars on federal highway 320 near Stainach-Pürgg (Liezen district) early Saturday evening cost the life of one driver and another driver was seriously injured. According to eyewitnesses, a 26-year-old man coming from the direction of Liezen overtook several vehicles and may have lost control of his vehicle. As a result, he collided head-on with a 28-year-old’s vehicle.
Following drivers started the rescue chain. After first aid was provided by road users and rescue workers who arrived at the scene of the accident, the 26-year-old was taken to Medical Campus Three of the Kepler University Hospital Linz with life-threatening injuries by the crew of the Christophorus 14 rescue helicopter. There he died from his serious injuries. The 28-year-old was taken to the Graz accident hospital with serious injuries by the crew of the rescue helicopter Christophorus 17.
The B 320 was closed to all traffic for around two hours until 8:15 p.m. and a local diversion was set up.
