A traffic accident occurred on the N97 near Biron to Ciney on Tuesday morning at around 9:30 a.m. A VW T-Cross car with a male driver of British origin and a female passenger of Dutch-speaking origin born in 1979 deviated from its trajectory and crossed the road into oncoming traffic from Dinant. The driver of a Peugeot 2008 from Hamois, a 37-year-old mother of two, tried to avoid the collision by swerving into a car park, but unfortunately might not avoid the collision. Both drivers died instantly, while the passenger in the VW T-Cross was taken to Mont-Godinne clinic in serious condition. Three ambulances and a medical helicopter were called to the scene, and the roadway is currently closed in both directions. The Mayor of Ciney visited the scene and has suggested that the faintness of the VW driver may be the cause of the accident.
