HEAD of BP Batam Muhammad Rudi received a visit from Singapore Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng, Monday (18/3) at the BP Batam Marketing Center. This activity is known to be his first visit to Batam City following being appointed as Ambassador in 2022.
The good relationship that has existed for a long time between the two parties is Kwok Fook Seng’s motivation to complete his intention to visit the city which is nicknamed the City of Madani World.
At the meeting that followingnoon, Kwok Fook Seng said he was impressed by the massive infrastructure development.
He did not forget to express his appreciation in the form of congratulations for the achievements of the Head of BP Batam, Muhammad Rudi, who had led Batam City’s economy to grow to 7.04% in 2023, following having slumped when Covid-19 hit.
“We congratulate Mr Rudi on the achievements he has achieved. “Everything that has been built has produced results which are reflected in the economic growth of Batam City which currently exceeds national economic growth,” said Kwok Fook Seng.
Seeing the rapid development of Batam City’s economy, he then proposed several opportunities for cooperation, especially in the renewable green and digital energy sector which has been classified as the Future of the World Economy.
Kwok Fook Seng said that these two economic sectors are currently of concern to the central government and the Singapore government.
Not only that, the health sector is also an economic sector that is planned to collaborate.
The scheme being proposed is human resource development in the form of health workers, especially nursing staff at Batam City health facilities.
“It is an honor for us to be able to visit Batam. “Of course, we will maintain and improve the existing cooperation,” concluded Kwok Fook Seng.
Responding to this, Muhammad Rudi welcomed the plan to increase bilateral cooperation to support the acceleration of the economies of the two countries.
He further said that the existing cooperation between Batam City and Singapore was going very well.
This is proven by Singapore being ranked first among investors with investment realization according to data from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM worth USD 366.5 million in 2023.
Muhammad Rudi also stated BP Batam’s commitment to continuing to support Singapore’s investment process in Batam City.
“BP Batam will fully support the needs of Singapore’s investment process in Batam City. “Hopefully this meeting can strengthen cooperation between the two countries,” he concluded. (RO/Z-10)
