Head of Aviation Ofner: “A unique opportunity to combine aviation and rail is buried at the Koralmbahn”

Criticism of Minister Gewessler’s plans not to build a train station at Graz Airport – that contradicts the logic of the climate protection ministry

Vienna (OTS) “Seamless Travelling, Multimodality, Connectivity. You hear these three keywords all the time when it comes to modern transport strategies, not least from the responsible climate ministry. The announcement by Federal Minister Gewessler that there will be no Koralmbahn stop at Graz Airport contradicts this completely,” criticizes Günther Ofner, head of the aviation professional group in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ).

According to Ofner, “a unique opportunity to combine the strengths of aviation and rail in Styria is buried by a simple “no”. For the chairman of the aviation professional group, it is clear that this “no” cannot remain. “If inter-regional rail traffic is required to interact with aviation, then this must also be made possible. However, the end of the Graz Airport stop has exactly the opposite effect. I therefore call on Federal Minister Gewessler to reconsider her decision and to say “yes” to a modern transport policy in the spirit of the multimodality she is keen to demand,” Ofner concludes.
